Dear Supporter,

The General Election campaign is now well underway.  Regardless of what else happens, there is one issue for anti-racists to act on in this election and the local council elections also taking place on 6^th May –  making sure that the fascist BNP can’t con their  way to their first MP or local council.

BNP fuhrer Nick Griffin is running to the MP for Barking in east London, and is polling well enough to have a chance of winning.  The BNP already have 12 seats on the local council there – and the whole council is up for re-election, meaning that the Nazis could take control of a local authority for the first time in British political history – with a budget of £300 MILLION at their disposal.  They will also be looking to build on their successes in grabbing two MEPs last June, by getting good results in other parts of the country.

But we can stop them.  We’ve been taking part in the excellent Unite Against Fascism Days of Action in Barking and Stoke and elsewhere (see www.uaf.org.uk to get involved).
In Barking we’re getting a great reception from most local people – with many who were not intending to vote now intending to vote purely to stop Nick Griffin.
